As co-founder of Black Feminist Film School Ṣangodare brings a spiritual, evolutionary and love filled approach to filmmaking, composing, interactive design and preaching. Ṣangodare comes from a thick legacy of Black Baptist preachers, singers and church leaders and currently activates Black Feminist sermonics at the Sunday Services held by Mobile Homecoming / Trust. Ṣangodare is a sweet space for transformation who facilitates spiritual and creative practice. Positively obsessed with healing and joy working in tandem with the difficult realities of community and their similarities and differences.

Brentton’s work in the series focuses on the knowledge of old African American spirituals, hymns and how they can inform our protest and with their transcendent rhythms and the power of their wisdom. Who has worked with a handful of impactful triangle artist like Monet Marshall, Pierce Freelon, CJ Suitt, Tarish “Jeghetto” Pipkins, J Rowdy and the Nightshift, Tristan André, Sonny Kelly, Kane Smego and the Blackspace Afronauts producing and providing music, sound, and vibes for various types of shows for each of these artist.

Singer, songwriter, electric-bass player. Her stylistic influences would eventually expand into jazz, rock and music from many parts of the African diaspora. Her early influences were gospel music, R&B and soul music. Now as Creative Futures artist Fellow she is expanding on the themes of Life Currency and Creation in collaboration with several community scholars, practitioners and artists.įulbright Scholar, drummer, educator, clinician, author and health coach, Shirazette Tinnin was born and raised in North Carolina. She led the way for artist residencies at CPA as our inaugural Mellon Foundation Discovery Through Iterative Learning (DisTIL) Fellow in 2017/18, culminating in the Alchemy of Change Festival in spring 2019.
